The Power of Dreams

You are pretty tired and went to bed and you dreamt that night that you are the world’s richest person! Poof 🌟 you wake up – reality check, went back to sleep that night and your brain began dreaming again, this time you are THE HULK from avengers!! same old Poof 🌟 guess what? you woke up again. reality check and began your day.

If I had to take a guess, I would say the first is an actual dream to most of the adults on earth. When I say, “actual dream” that means many people would “consciously” dream “I would like to be the world’s richest person alive”. Why would I not consider most people would dream “I’D LIKE TO BE HULK ARGHHHHHHHHH”? (bet you laughed just then). Well, that is because your brain knows how to do a reality check. Everyone dreams of something that can actually be achieved or has already been achieved by someone else.

Personal growth: For me, dreams are not just visions that fill my sleep but they are rocket fuel that ignite my aspirations when I am awake. If you did not understand that, it is a language barrier (not a native English speaker). My dreams push me beyond my limits and gets me out of my comfort zone and urges me to reach new heights.

ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER

Dreams are always meant to have setbacks and failures. Let us consider Arnold Schwarzenegger – when pursuing his dream of becoming Mr. Universe, do you reckon he just trained like everyone else and just participated and won the title? The answer is a BIG FAT NO. He failed, failed and failed and tripped over many stones before rising up. NEVER GIVING UP. That is what dreams are about, you come across a thousand different obstacles and each of these obstacles turns you into a different alpha version of yourself. with every setback you learn something different and with every failure you will learn your mistake on how not to fail. That builds our character and learn more about ourselves. What do you call this? PERSONAL GROWTH.

Harnessing power of dreams:

To really understand and harness your dreams you must first acknowledge them and embrace your dreams. This is what I have learnt through my years of life experience.

Self – Reflection: Only by understanding your true desires and what you genuinely aspire to achieve you call that a dream. I aspire to become a person who motivates others to be physically and mentally fit. Find your niche and stick to it.

Determination: Determination is something more than just a word to me. Life kicked me back into abyss one too many times but tell yourself “Stay Focused, Stay Determined”. No matter how many setbacks you have to face, it all comes down to your mettle and your determination to stay on track.

Setting Goals: My mum always played a huge role in all of the important decisions in my life. When I quit my engineering to study full time exercise and sports science, she was the only one supporting me in the family and she made me realize, no decision is a bad decision if you set your goals right. REALISTIC GOALS PERIOD. Your first goal can just be as simple as “I will start today”. Break down your goals into smaller goals leading up to your end goal. Transform your vague intentions into clear, and actionable goals.

Learning and Adapting: You always gotta be open minded. Open to new doors, open to new outcomes(regardless of success or failure), open to new experiences. Only through these different scenarios you will be able to learn and adapt to those situations in future.

Sharing and Inspiring: Don’t ever feel inferior to share your dream to others. You might inspire the next Elon musk or you might just inspire another YOU! to follow your dream.

The Reason: For me, dreams bring a sense of accomplishment, a sense of purpose, fulfillment and joy. More importantly, I want to create a ripple effect of motivation and ambition amongst others to pursue their dream!
